Spotlights

Monday at 6:30 pm we finally received Sophie!  We were supposed to receive her at 3:00 pm at the China Affairs Bureau and when we arrived they said there was an accident on the super highway and they babies were delayed.  At first our hearts dropped as we thought our baby was in an accident but then they explained that the accident caused a traffic jam and the babies we stuck in traffic.

They finally delivered the babies to Peter’s room at 6:30pm. It was very exciting.  Sophie was scared of us at first but this didn't rattle Kim.  She comforted Sophie for hours and eventually Sophie relaxed.  When I came up from dinner at 9pm Sophie had stopped crying and Kim and Sophie were sitting on the floor playing.  She was still afraid of me; as soon as she looked at me she would start crying.  I kind of expected that based on the reaction of the adults (they follow us around, stare and try to take our picture).

Sophie finally fell asleep at 10:00 pm and all are doing fine.

Tomorrow we go back to the China Affairs bureau to do the paper work, complete an interview and officially become parents.
