Spotlights

This morning we woke up in Beijing, the weather was absolutely beautiful - 75 degrees and sunny. We started in Tiananmen Square, the largest square in the world. This is the area where all the political events take place such as celebrations, the parliment building is located here and the enterance to the Forbidden City. There are 9 gates that you must pass before entering the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City was built in 1406(ish) and it took 1 million people 15 years to build. This is located in the center of the city, Beijing, and the home of the Emperors. The Emperors had one wife, the Emperess, and 3,000 concubines. After walking around the Forbidden City we went to the Pearl Market where we got to fish out a clam and pick a pearl out of it. China is known for their pearls and jades. Pearl happens to be Sophie's birthstone so we purchased some earrings for her. After we went to a large park called the Temple of Heaven. This is where all the retirees go to dance, play poker, sing (kareoke), show off their talents and play shuttle cock (similar to hackey sack). Noel of course joined the game of  shuttle cock and he was great! He also tried a couple other things like asian hola hoop, and tossing the stick- batones. They asked Noel to play with the numchucks but thankfully he passed. Sophie laughed at Noel the entire time he was playing - she loves to watch her daddy. After the park we went out to eat with our friend (guide) who took us to an authentic resturant. The food was awesome, we asked for mild but their mild is our spicy. Noel really enjoyed to spicy food but grandma and I like the less spicy better.

As I sit in my hotel room on the last night of our amazing trip, I’m remembering all the wonderful things we saw and the remarkable things and places we experienced but, the greatest treasure and loving memory I’ll hold closest to my heart is the look in their eyes and the love in their hearts as God bestowed on my precious son Noel and his loving wife Kim, the blessing of “Sophia”, our Angel from China. The very long wait, the many intense prayers, the wonderful and many mixed emotions we felt during this long awaited event were well worth it. Our prayers answered….our God is Great! I am forever thankful for all my blessings from God. My wonderful husband, my beautiful son and daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and now our three precious angels from God, my grandchildren Colie, Lukie and Sophie, the loves of my life. I am so thankful that God is in all of our lives and all of our hearts. Without Him none of this would have been possible. Thank you Noel and Kim for inviting me and including me in the most important and blessed part of your lives. I would not have missed it for the world! You don’t know how loved and important you made me feel. I am so fortunate to be able to come. My prayer tonight is that God grants special blessings on my family, extended family and friends for all of your concerns, thoughts, good wishes, blessings and most of all your prayers - they meant more to me than you’ll ever know. All of your internet comments touched my heart. I Love all of you. Bev XO
